Meghan Merideth, Head of School, 801.262.4922 Ext. 210 - graduated from Utah Valley University in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science. Meghan completed her Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from University of Phoenix in 2009. She has been with UTVA since 2011, and has experience in working with students of all grade levels with charter and district schools prior to joining UTVA. Meghan has a passion for virtual education believing that all students can learn and virtual education is a vehicle to facilitate quality education statewide.

Jonathan Osborn, Operations Manager, 801-262-4922, - Jonathan is in his third year with Utah Virtual Academy.  He is currently in his first year as the Operations Manager.  In his current role, Jon troubleshoots technical and logistical issues for both staff and students. His main goal is to remove existing barriers so that the overall educational process runs more smoothly for teachers and students. Jon graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Sport and Performance Psychology.  He finds it extremely rewarding to apply many of the principles he acquired during his own education to every day challenges. In addition to his current position with UTVA, Jon also operates a small consulting practice where he teaches athletes, businessmen, and performers from all backgrounds mental skills to that enable them improve in their own areas of focus. Jon loves his role as Ops Manager and is excited to be part of the UTVA family.

Debbie Dempsey, Academic Director, 801.262.4922 Ext. 200 – graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.  She earned her M.Ed. at City University of Seattle, and her principal certification from Seattle Pacific University.  She is currently completing a doctoral degree in Administrative Leadership for Teaching and Learning, focusing on high school dropouts.  Debbie taught Special Education in grades 1–12 in private and public schools for 21 years, and has been a principal for 10 years in both public and charter school systems.  Her family has lived in Maryland, Washington, California, and are glad to call Utah home again.  Her husband is a retired Boeing engineer, they have two married children and three of the cutest grandsons around.  Her experience with non-traditional educational opportunities has shown her endless possibilities for each student to reach their dreams. 

Shelly Strahan, Special Programs Manager, 801.262.4922 Ext. 6000 - graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003 with a teaching degree in Secondary Language Arts and Journalism. After teaching Language Arts for two years at an alternative private school setting, Shelly realized her real passion was working with students with disabilities, especially autism. She earned her endorsement in Special Education endorsement from Utah State University and moved into special education in the public school system. Shelly has worked in private schools, a public district school, and now at Utah Virtual Academy. She was been the Special Education Coordinator at UTVA for seven years, and this year moved to the position of Special Manager, where she oversees compliance for Special Education, Title I programs, 504 plans, and ELL. Her strongest belief is that given the opportunity, all students can learn.

Paul L. Glanton, K12 Utah Local Development Manager, 801.452.5221 - joined the K12/UTVA team in April of 2009. Paul attended the University of Minnesota on a football scholarship where he majored in Music and minored in Theater. After college, Paul  had a brief stint as  free agent linebacker with the National Football League Kansas City Chiefs. His career includes experience as a semi-professional opera singer, assistant/associate dean of admissions, outreach/placement supervisor, corporate training director, and center director with various companies and organizations. Paul lives in Roy, UT with his beautiful wife Debbie, two daughters Kyleah and LaQuira, grandsons CJ and Cayden, and dog Cocoa. His hobbies include listening to opera, fishing, and gardening. Paul feels his true passion lies in working closely with students and parents in their quest for quality education.

Becky Seymour, High School Principal, 801.262.4922 Ext. 7429 - graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003 with a teaching degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Endorsement. After teaching 1st grade for three years in Hurricane, UT, Becky was asked to move into the role of Staff Developer and Literacy Specialist where she worked passionately to train and mentor teachers, assist with administrative duties, and organize the school’s Literacy MTSS model. Becky saw an opportunity to join an innovative virtual school, Utah Virtual Academy in 2009. She began her career with UTVA as a 3rd-5th grade reading specialist and homeroom teacher. As UTVA grew, so did Becky’s duties and responsibilities. Prior to her role as High School Principal, Becky has served as K8 Retention Lead, Title 1 Coordinator, Teacher Effectiveness POC, and Academic MTSS Coordinator. As High School Principal, she inspired every day by the strength of the high school faculty, staff, and students. Becky thrives on continual growth and never settles for complacency.  She strives to always acknowledge the individual strengths of students and teachers. Becky want her students to feel like they belong, that they matter, and believe their unique strengths are needed for the challenges of UTVA and beyond. Becky’s moto is… “If they know we believe in them, they will stay focused and strive to push themselves to succeed.”

Angie Kreitzer, K-8 Principal, 801.262.4922 Ext. 7000 - completed her bachelor's degree at Utah State University in Elementary Education. She is a former fourth grade teacher where she innovatively integrated technology into her classroom. Angie joined the UTVA staff in 2008 and is now in her seventh year. She has served as a teacher, lead teacher and title family and student engagement coordinator. Angie brings strong love for school choice, and enthusiasm for partnering with parents to facilitate enjoyable, effective schooling for children here in Utah.

Desarae Wright, High School Assistant Principal, 801.262.4922 ext. 3340, - graduated from the University of Utah with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Desi then completed her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governor’s University in 2017.  She taught grades Kindergarten-2nd before moving to administration working as Assistant Principal in K8 and now High School.  She has been with UTVA since 2013 and has a passion for education and serving the virtual school population.  Although the younger students were where her career started, she has quickly found a special place for High School in her heart and looks forward to seeing the school grow.
