The Destinations Career Academy
Your student can take advantage of career-focused courses through the Destinations Career Academy at UTVA.
What is Destinations?
The Destinations Career Academy at Utah Virtual Academy (UTVA) is an innovative, tuition-free online program that combines traditional high school courses with industry-relevant, career-focused electives—giving students a jump-start on their college and career goals. While working toward their high school diplomas, students can choose from a variety of courses in these high-demand career fields: Health and Human Services and Information Technology. Utah-licensed teachers provide live online instruction and tailor teaching to student needs. Students can participate in career-oriented clubs, gain workplace skills, and prepare to take industry-recognized certification exams in their chosen career path upon graduation.*
Career-focused courses are based on the knowledge and skills required for each career pathway in the following high-demand career fields:
Business, Finance, and Marketing: Careers in finance, marketing, and planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations. Learn more about Business, Finance, and Marketing.
Health and Human Services: Careers in planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and development. Learn more about Health and Human Services.

Destinations students can enroll in career clubs, also called Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs). CTSOs give students with similar career interests the opportunity to connect, practice professional skills, work on service projects, take field trips, and compete against other schools at the local, state, and national levels. In addition, teams from various Destinations Career Academies compete against one another several times a year through competitions sponsored by one or more of the clubs.
